Craps Layout Part Two

[ Back to Craps Tutorial Section ]

Welcome to Craps layout section two. In this section, we will look at the proposition bets (middle of the craps layout). These bets are generally bad bets because of the probability of hitting them in comparison with the payout rate, but they can add excitement to the game.

Craps Layout Part Two

Hardways Bets (A): The hardways consists of four bets: 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5. A hardway bet stays up until a seven is rolled, you pull it down or the number is rolled "soft." For example, if you bet on the hard six, you need a 3-3. If a six is rolled as 4-2, you would lose the bet. As you can see, the hard six and eight pay 10 for 1 and the hard four and ten pay 8 for 1. While all four bets have the same probability of hitting, the six and eight can come soft four ways verses just two ways for the two and four.

Any Seven (B): Feel like a seven is about to be rolled? Bet the any seven. This is a one-roll wager and pays 5 for 1 should a seven come out. The seven has six possible combinations and therefore has a 16.6% probability of being rolled.

Any Craps (C) : You will often see players betting any craps on the come out roll for protection. This bet wins when a 2,3 or 12 is rolled and pays 8 for one. This bet can also be placed next to the prop box on the C with the circle around it. This is a one-roll wager.

Betting Horn Numbers(D): This is a one-roll wager and you can wager on the next roll being a 2,3,11 or 12. Following is the payout and roll probability of each number.

2 or 12 pays 30 to 1 and has a 2.7% probability of being rolled.

3 or 11 pays 15 to 1 and has a 5.5% probability of being rolled.

It's important to note that each casino may have it's own pay rate on these.
